Bizzarrini 5300 GT Revival Corsa: the LeMans racer returns

In 2020, the Italian sports car brand Bizzarrini was revived in the UK. Nearly two years later, the Bizzarrini 5300 GT Revival Corsa entered the automotive scene as a replica of the 1965 LeMans race car.

In the LeMans long-distance classic, the Bizzarrini 5300 GT won the sports car class with a displacement of more than five liters. The Italian also took ninth place overall. Now the revived brand would like to build on past successes, with a detailed replica of the old racing car.

close to original

It has now been unveiled as a 5300 GT Corsa Revival prototype, to be followed by 24 hand-built copies. The first customer can receive their copy from May 2022. In order to stay very close to the original with the new edition of the Bizzarrini 5300 GT, the developers turned to the original construction drawings, interviewed the engineers originally responsible for the project and also asked previous providers for their experience. Since the new Bizzarrini is once again a pure racing car and intended to be driven by its owners on the race track, the original design was supplemented by some modern safety features. For example, the fuel tank with a capacity of 95 liters is designed as a modern safety cell. An integrated roll cage in accordance with FIA specifications for historic racing also serves to ensure safety. The 5300 GT can only be prepared for road use if expressly requested by the customer.

V8 carburetor with more than 400 hp

For the rest, the Bizzarrini is based on a tubular steel chassis on which a one-piece body made of composite material is placed. Customers who do not want to participate in historical races receive these carbon castings, otherwise the body is made of fiberglass like the original. Independent wheel suspension keeps the wheels in check. Power is provided by a 5.3-litre V8, which is fueled by twin Weber 45 carburettors and is said to deliver over 400hp, which has to contend with a vehicle weight of just 1,250kg.

Bizzarrini does not mention the prices of the 5300 GT Corsa Revival. It should also not be relevant to potential customers.

Conclution

With the Bizzarrini 5300 GT Corsa Revival, another historic racing car returns to the automotive scene. With a limited edition of just 24 copies, it should disappear like the original back into collectors’ garages in no time.
