These new billionaires come from Germany

The richest people in the world get togetherto 12.7 billion dollars. 134 German billionaires also contribute, seven of whom have not previously appeared in the ranking. t-online presents them.

The war in Ukraine, the pandemic, the uncertainty in the stock markets: one would think that even the world’s richest would not be left unscathed. After all, there are 87 fewer people on the list of billionaires in the US magazine “Forbes” than last year.

The number of super-rich fell to 2,668, with total assets of US$12.7 trillion, about US$400 billion less than in 2021. Russia’s super-rich in particular had to write off some of their assets, and 34 billionaires are no longer appeared on the “Forbes” list. Probably due to Western sanctions after the attack on Ukraine.

However, there were also rich people who became even richer: at least more than 1,000. In addition, 236 new billionaires appear on the list. Even from Germany, there are at least seven previously unranked super-rich, out of a total of 134 billionaires who hail from Germany. A general vision:

nadia thiele

The 46-year-old woman is the widow of businessman Heinz Hermann Thiele, the main shareholder in brake specialist Knorr-Bremse and a major shareholder in Deutsche Lufthansa. Thiele died last year at the age of 79.

His daughter, Julia Thiele-Schürhoff, also inherited much of the fortune. She appeared on the list last year. But Nadja Thiele is new to the ranking.

Francine von Finck and family

Like Nadja Thiele, Francine von Finck is an heiress to billions: her husband, businessman and investor August von Finck junior, passed away at the end of November 2021 at the age of 91. Among other things, he was the main shareholder in the Swiss restaurant and hotel chain Mövenpick and founded Degussa Goldhandel.

But August von Finck had already inherited much of his fortune. The private bank Merck, Finck & Co. was sold years ago. Finck’s investor was highly controversial due to his donations and connections to the right-wing populist milieu.

Carsten Körl

The businessman founded the Swiss company Sportradar, which provides data for FIFA, among others, but also for sports betting providers. He owns about a third of the shares in the company, which is listed on the US technology index Nasdaq.

Stephen Schnabel

Schnabel is CEO of Hamburger Helm AG, a family business that makes money from the sale of chemicals, fertilizers and crop protection products. He owns the company together with his father, businessman Dieter Schnabel, who owns 60 percent of the shares. The junior reaches 40 percent. His father had been on the ranking for several years and now his son is also on the list.

sixt brothers

“It’s time to hand over the helm,” said Erich Sixt on his last day as CEO of the car rental company. That was last summer.

His two sons, Alexander and Konstantin, took over the company along with most of the company’s shares, and now appear on the Forbes super-rich list for the first time.

Christian Angermayer

The London-based investor is also new to Forbes’ rich list. He made his fortune from various bets and investments in biotech companies.
