Running for fitness and a healthy work environment

After last year’s cancellation, the fourth edition of the Gütersloh company race starts on Wednesday, August 31.

Gütersloh District (gl) – AOK NordWest and organizer Robert Becker kick off the fourth edition of the AOK Business Run in Gütersloh on Wednesday, August 31. The start and finish are on the forecourt of the theater on Barkeystrasse (water tower). It begins at 6:00 p.m. with the foot race and in the company of “Light” (2.5 km) and at 6:45 p.m. the 5-kilometre foot race continues.

From the Gütersloh water tower, the attractive five-kilometre route takes you through the Gütersloh pedestrian zone and the Dalke floodplains. Immediately after the company presentation, the award ceremony will take place on the Theaterplatz with prizes for the companies and schools with the most participants.

1000 participants expected

“We expect around 1,000 runners this year after the corona pandemic. From trainee to boss: Running together with colleagues is fun and ensures a healthy work environment,” says Dennis Erhardt, AOK Sales Team Leader. Registration for the event is now possible online.

After the corona pandemic, the company’s race organizers are now looking to the future and daring to restart the popular racing event after last year’s cancellation. “With the then necessary Corona distance rules and hopefully good weather, we will finally be able to once again organize a great racing event, in which all participants will have fun and enjoy themselves together,” says organizer Robert Becker.

Around 1,500 runners took part in the last Gütersloh company race in September 2019. The organizers are targeting this number again this year. The interest of companies is also great this year.

the goal is to reach

“Corona has also changed the world of work. Many employees work in the office from home and therefore have had less personal contact with their colleagues for months. With the management of our company, we would like to help local companies to promote a positive work environment and, at the same time, do something together for health”, says Dennis Erhardt.

He points out that the best times should not be the focus of the company’s management: “Getting there is the goal. The focus is on having fun and enjoying the movement together. We would like to expressly encourage amateur runners and newcomers to participate. ”
