André Niezijewski studied digital media and business administration after school. “I have been interested in weight training since the 8th grade. In GDR times there were no fitness studios like there are today. We were lifting iron in a friend’s basement. During my studies in Potsdam, I trained in a group of strength training”, explains André Niezijewski.

Back in Rathenow, André Niezijewski worked for another four years at Telekom. After visiting Fitpoint in Premnitz and the gym at Launepark in Rathenow, he took over the Rathenow gym with a business friend. “I also met Janine here,” says André Niezijewski. It didn’t take long for the two to realize that they had more in common than just sports. The two became a couple and now run the Family Fitness Rathenow gym at Milower Landstraße 7.

He discovered sports dance for himself.

Janine Niezijewski is a talent of the movement. She discovered sports dance in her childhood. “I started with ballet at school. Dancing is still my thing to this day. I’ve been through it all, whether it’s Zumba, hip-hop or step dancing, dancing is pure movement and I really enjoy it,” explains the trained clerk.

André Niezijewski is 49 years old and his wife is 41 years old. They are both in great shape. It is also clear to both that fitness is not a matter of age. “In our gym there are young people from 12 years old to a couple of retirees who are well over 80 years old. Being fit is an attitude towards your body. It is important that you know what you are doing it for. Especially people starting out with fitness need to set an achievable goal and know exactly what they want to do. We are there to create the right program for everyone”, says Janine Niezijewski.

People often only realize the importance of regular exercise when they develop symptoms or when they no longer feel comfortable with themselves. Sport and exercise are part of André and Janine Niezijewski’s life. The two and their team are present at many events in the region where sports and health are at stake. They also participate with their own team in the Rathenow Dragon Boat Race or in the health days at the Märkisches Platz.

This is how you get over your inner bastard

But how do you get over your weaker self to play sports? André and Janine Niezijewski have clear statements on this. “First of all, you need to set an achievable goal and define exactly what you really want. We can help you with that, but you have to do it yourself. It is important that you also enjoy what you are doing. If you do it halfheartedly just to reach the goal, you’ll quickly lose the fun. You can choose the exercises that suit you best. However, everyone must ensure that a training effect is achieved”, says André Niezijewski.

“Daily challenges are also a way to spark ambition. Exercising together with a partner can also bring more joy in sport and spark mutual ambition,” says Janine Niezijewski.

Even with the high temperatures of summer and holidays, you can do something for your fitness. “You don’t necessarily have to go to the studio on vacation. Swimming, for example, is very pleasurable and uses the whole body. However, you should also swim a few lengths and not just splash around. Of course, cycling is also an option on vacation. If it’s too hot, you can move your daily workout to the early hours of the morning. If you don’t do anything during the holidays and think that I will go back to the studio after the holidays, you will quickly realize how difficult it is to do it again,” says Janine Niezijewski.
