Let’s be honest: many cyclists have probably made use of this regulation anyway, even if it has been considered a violation until now. It is now officially allowed to turn right at a red light, at least where the green arrow indicates it for cyclists. © Federal Highway Research Institute
Turn arrow for motorists
The same road sign has existed for motorists for some time. But there is still a lot of ignorance among road users regarding the green arrow. Because correctly you have to behave like a stop sign. This means that the vehicle must first come to a complete stop and remain stationary for at least three seconds in accordance with traffic regulations. Only then can you turn right at a red light, provided that no other road users are in danger. The same regulations also apply to cyclists. © Malte Christians/dpa (file image)

Apart from that, speeding violators and illegal parkers have had to dig deeper into their pockets since November 9, 2021. The renewed catalog of fines provides for tougher penalties: for example, if you drive from 16 to 20 kilometers per hour (km/h) too fast in the city and they give you a flash, you pay 70 euros instead of 35 euros as before. Higher fines are also imposed on those who park illegally on sidewalks and bike paths, stop illegally in buffer strips, or park and stop in the second row. Parking in the second row now costs €55 instead of €20, and becomes even more expensive if other road users are hampered or in danger. Also new is a fine of 55 euros for unauthorized parking in a car park for electric vehicles and carsharing vehicles. © Uwe Anspach/dpa (archive image/symbolic image)

Hail damage to the car: do not throw it away immediately

What not to do in a hurry: In frustration, drive the car to the scrapyard right away. At least until the insurance company has settled the damage, the car must be within reach of a possible inspection by an expert. During this time, it can definitely make sense to look for a buyer, also abroad: above all known from the USthat there are motorists and collectors out there who would put up with a car with a special dent design.

Of course, you can also just take the money from the insurance company and continue driving with a cold-formed body. In both cases, however, it must be remembered that the The car stays with the owner and it does not pass into the hands of the insurance company. (me)
