Peine district: Ukrainian vehicles require motor vehicle insurance
Comb district.Due to the exceptional humanitarian situation, German third-party liability insurers will only cover damage caused by Ukrainian-registered passenger cars in Germany as part of a voluntary initiative until May 31. However, the initiative ends on Wednesday, June 1. “It is therefore important that all vehicles with Ukrainian registration plates used on German roads can prove that they have motor vehicle liability insurance,” explains district spokesman Fabian Laass. This also includes passenger cars with Ukrainian registration.

For vehicles registered in Ukraine, the required insurance can be obtained and proven in several ways:
• With a green card that the policyholder received from their Ukrainian civil liability insurer. The green card of the Ukrainian insurer can currently also be obtained digitally from Germany. More information is available online at www.mtsbu.ua/ua/green_card/80365/. The green card guarantees motor vehicle liability insurance protection for the countries marked on the green card.
• With valid border insurance purchased at the external border of the EU. This provides motor vehicle liability insurance coverage throughout the European Union and in other countries that may be included in the border insurance.
