Hannoversche Lebensversicherung has been active on the Austrian market with a small and strong sales team since 2018. We talked to Jörg Illing, Head of Sales Partners at Hannoversche Lebensversicherung AG, about communication, the need for insurance and his passion for his work.

Hannoversche Lebensversicherung is a traditional life insurer in Germany, why did you enter the Austrian market with only a small portfolio?

Hannoversche has been offering security to its customers for more than 145 years. Almost a million customers already trust their high performance products at a reasonable price. Hannoversche specializes in biometric products and is the market leader for life insurance in Germany. Excellent placements in independent comparative tests repeatedly confirm the quality of the product and service. The very low cancellation rate in life insurance underlines the excellent quality of advice from our business partners. Analyst firm Assekurata has given the Hannoversche the top A++ (excellent) rating for years, and Standard & Poor’s has reconfirmed the A+ rating for the 2022 Hannoversche.
In 2018 we decided to also participate in the Austrian market with our life insurance. That was a logical step. Thanks to our subsidiary VAV, we were able to benefit from their experience in the brokerage market. So the general conditions were good. So we decided to start with a small portfolio on the Austrian market, to watch the development and develop the business step by step.

How is Hanoverian life in Austria?

I can say that little by little we are establishing ourselves in Austria. We’ve had double-digit growth every year so far. Intermediaries understand that we are a reliable and competent partner for them. With the Austrian colleagues, Mario Woltsche and Martin Kaiser, the intermediaries have very experienced contacts on the site.
What are the unique selling points of the Hannoversche in Austria?
With our products, we offer the right individual solution for every security requirement. Our new life insurance (both with the same sum insured and with decreasing sums insured) will continue to be available in the three proven price classes Basic, Plus and Exclusive. New performance features ensure an even more attractive range of bespoke benefits through flexible supplementary insurance and increase options or immediate benefits, such as early death benefits in case of critical illness, increase options without additional premiums, for example, to build a house, get married and give birth at the Plus and Exclusive rates. Y: Life insurance with a decreasing sum insured can now also be taken out with constant premiums.
