YouGov survey: one in three think about changing car insurance

Munich (ots)

  • 41 percent of consumers think their car insurance is too expensive
  • Auto insurance premiums for existing customers increase by more than ten percent on average
  • 61 percent believe that they can find the best deals through comparison portals on the Internet.

Nearly one in a third think about changing car insurance. This was the result of a YouGov representative survey of decision-makers (co-)responsible for car insurance questions.1) This means that consumers’ desire to switch is 25 percent higher this year than it was last year. previous. In 2021, just under a quarter of those surveyed were considering switching car insurance.

One possible reason: 41 percent of respondents who are (co-)responsible for car insurance consider their current insurance to be too expensive. 81 percent of those who are willing to switch say they want to save money with a new insurance contract. A quarter of consumers who want to switch want better insurance benefits.

“Many policyholders feel that their car insurance is too expensive,” says Michael Roloff, Managing Director of Motor Vehicle Insurance at CHECK24. “This sentiment is not misleading: on existing contracts, we are currently seeing strong premium increases averaging more than ten percent, so switching insurance will be worthwhile in many cases.”

Survey: 61 Percent Believe They Can Find The Best Deals Through Internet Comparison Portals

When switching insurance companies, consumers rely on online comparison portals. 61 percent of those surveyed believe they find the best deals through comparison portals. 33 percent trust direct contact with the insurance company and 21 percent trust the insurance broker.

When it comes to buying car insurance, comparison portals can also convince. 58 percent of respondents are in favor of a conclusion through a comparison portal. For comparison: 40 percent would conclude the contract directly with the insurance company, only 24 percent with a classic (offline) broker.
