April 25, 2022—Jonas Papé

Together with you, fit4future natur and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, we want to give our state as many trees as possible. This time we were there in Hamelin when the new seedlings were planted.

Throughout the country, with our initiative for the future Plant trees for Lower Saxony Seedlings planted in the ground – to improve our forests as soon as possible. Because together with you, fit4future natur and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, we want to plant a lot of trees in Lower Saxony! Today, on International Tree Day, April 25, we were in Klein Berkel, a district of Hamelin. Donated beech, fir and maple trees were planted on an area of more than three hectares.

The Minister for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of Lower Saxony, Barbara Otte-Kinast, was also present. She is a patron of the “Plant trees for Lower Saxony” campaign. In addition, she was accompanied by the mayor of Hamelin, Claudio Griese. They both put their hands on the shovel and planted seedlings.

Since the beginning of the year, together with our project partners, we have been collecting donations for the reforestation and conservation of the forests of Lower Saxony. Already 3,000 beech trees and 500 white firs have been planted on an area of about three hectares. The small seedlings are intended to supplement the existing forest area. Due to the dead trees in the area, they have plenty of shade and can grow effectively. Therefore, the seedlings in Hamelin are intended as an extension of the existing forest. The trees are not visible to the naked eye, they do not reach even half a meter in height. However, in the future they will grow into trees several meters tall.

The extreme weather conditions of recent years and various pests such as the bark beetle have been causing problems for the forests for years. With the future initiative “Plant trees for Lower Saxony” we want to address this and help the forests of Lower Saxony, also in Hamelin. And the initiative does not end in Hamelin, you can continue being a sponsor of trees and supporting the forests of our country!
