Android users beware: nasty malware is stealing your data

Android update: This is what phone calls will look like in the future

If you use an Android smartphone, you need to be careful about new malware. This spies on your device and sends the data to scammers. Find out how to protect yourself here.

Malware attacks are becoming more and more common these days. Even app stores like the Google Play Store are not immune to malware. As “Bleeping Computer” reports, citing data from “Lab52”, the new malware is now in the startup blocks, which is aimed at Android users. This should come out of the pen of Russian hackers and spy on the data of smartphone users.

The Android malware, which calls itself “Process Manager”, gets a total of 18 permissions. This includes camera access, location, SMS reading, phone logs, and audio file recording. It is not yet known how the malware achieves this. Android users may be tricked during installation or the app independently obtains permissions via an exploit.

The curious thing about the new malware is that it is being openly shown to Android users. It is permanently displayed as “Process Manager” in the notification bar of the device. Apparently, the criminals want to disguise the malware as a system component.

Security experts are still unsure how the app gets onto Android users’ smartphones. Theoretically, it could spread through fake apps on the Play Store. Otherwise, the harmful data will end up on the smartphone through email phishing attacks or visiting dubious websites.

Also curious: the malware downloads other applications in the background. For example, “Roz Dhan: Earn Wallet Cash” app from Play Store. This now has over ten million downloads. For this reason alone, you should be careful at this point and only download apps that you trust. Also, you should trust the official sources for the apps instead of downloading them from dubious websites.
