Nintendo Switch: update 14.1.0 depends on platinum points

The 14.1.0 update for Switch is here.

The 14.1.0 update for Switch is here.

After the last major firmware update 14.0 gave the Switch a folder feature, Nintendo is baking smaller rolls with the new 14.1.0 version. However, there is a new feature that should make all players who accumulate platinum points happy.

Update 14.1.0 Simplifies Earning Platinum Points

Starting April 4, you can download a new update for the Switch that adds a Platinum Points notification option. So that we can be informed in the change if we have already claimed earned points or not.

Here are Nintendo’s patch notes:

Added “Platinum Points Notification Settings” under “Notifications” in System Settings.

  • Unclaimed Platinum Points earned by completing Nintendo Switch Online missions on your Nintendo Switch system will trigger notifications.
  • Setting these notifications to “Off” will hide the notification that is sent when there are unclaimed Platinum Points.

Platinum Points for free content

You can collect so-called My Nintendo points on your Nintendo Account by completing certain tasks. In addition to platinum points, these also include so-called gold points. The difference: you get platinum points for using various services and completing tasks, while gold points are for buying games.

What do I get for platinum points? You can redeem My Nintendo points with Nintendo for discounts, additional content and merchandise (shipping costs may apply). This includes, for example, a set of Nintendo posters, various desktop background images, or a Hyrule Warriors laptop.

How do I collect points? You automatically get gold points when you buy Switch games. You collect platinum points by completing missions, even if you don’t have a Nintendo Switch Online. For example, you must link your Network ID or Facebook account to your Nintendo Account. You can find a selection of the missions here.

More about the Nintendo Switch:

The new notifications help to accumulate platinum points more effectively and to keep track of them, since they can also expire. Instead of going to the Nintendo website for the points, it’s now enough to reach for the Switch.

Do you collect platinum points and are therefore happy with the new feature?
