More than 350 million people around the world play Fortnite.
The development company Epic Games wants to support aid projects in Ukraine. For this reason, the group donates the entire income of the popular video game of the last two weeks, the equivalent of about 130 million euros.
144 million dollars from the profits from the video game “Fortnite” will be donated to aid projects that benefit the people of Ukraine. These are the video game’s revenues for the last two weeks, “Fortnite” developer Epic Games explained on Monday.
The money will be donated to the UN children’s fund UNICEF, the UN World Food Programme, the UN refugee agency UNHCR, and aid organizations World Central Kitchen and Direct Relief.
Epic Games and the operators of Microsoft’s Xbox game console announced in March that all “Fortnite” profits between March 20 and April 3 will be donated to Ukraine. The equivalent of about 130 million euros was raised.
Numerous companies have announced donations to help the Ukraine attacked by Russia. The video game industry is also involved. Developer Riot Games (“League of Legends”) donated $5.4 million.
