Apple Fitness+: 4 exciting new workout features coming soon

If you are already a fan of Apple Fitness+ or are thinking of taking advantage of the offer, you will soon like the virtual training platform a lot more. With new types of classes and new ways to enjoy them (even with your long-lost training buddies), these features will help you stay active and grounded even when the weather turns a little grayer.

Most of these features have been available since September 27, 2021, while one will be available a little later in the fall. Here are some of the most exciting new Apple Fitness+ options you can look forward to.

Pilates on Apple Fitness+

Like other major streaming platforms, Fitness+ will offer classic and modern Pilates classes starting September 27. And as with other “Fitness+” workouts, other members of the training team will stay in the background and offer modification opportunities.

Most Pilates workouts on Apple Fitness+ only require a mat, but some also use resistance bands. The duration of the courses is between 10 and 30 minutes.

Virtual group classes on Apple Fitness+

If you’ve been missing out on group fitness classes during the pandemic, this innovative new feature is for you. With Group Workouts, you can join your friends in streaming Fitness+ classes at the same time and connect with them in a fun and stimulating way while you work out. To start a class with friends, navigate to the Fitness+ app from a group message thread or FaceTime call and start a workout with the option to invite others to the same class.

During training, you can see your friends’ faces and chat with them through picture-in-picture. He can also see his progress in the “Record Bar”, which shows how much he is working and when he closes his activity rings (individual metrics remain private to each individual, however). The group workouts feature, coming later this fall with the new SharePlay update, supports up to 32 people at a time.

Ski season workouts on Apple Fitness+

For most of us, skiing and snowboarding are activities we only participate in a few times a year. To help you make the most of those few days in the off-season, Apple Fitness+ is introducing ski season prep workouts on September 27.
